Clinical Skills & Simulation

Welcome to Clinical Skills & Simulation

“The Clinical Skills and Simulation Department is dedicated to improving and optimising patient safety and quality of care through the development and implementation of innovative, high-quality sustainable training programs, encompassing all disciplines and trainees, via a Department which is professional, organised, accommodating and accessible.”

Our facilities, which are based in the Medical Education Centre, boast two Simulation Suites with an adjoining Observation Room and a fully equipped Clinical Skills Room.  The Simulation Suites are home to our high fidelity manikins – SimMan Essential, SimJunior and SimBaby.  In the Clinical Skills Room, we have an array of equipment, part skills trainers and models. We host training for ‘Essential Skills’, venepuncture and cannulation, suturing, ‘Patient Handling’ as well as a variety of other clinical medical procedures.

Our Simulation Interest Group meets quarterly and invites new members from all healthcare professions.  If you would like to see our facilities, ask about training programmes or join our Simulation Interest Group, please do get in contact:
